The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium supports pianist KIM Suyeon for the closing concert of the local music festival "Musiq'3'"
The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium (director Kim Jaehwan) supported pianist KIM Suyeon to perform with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra during the closing performance of the local music festival "Musiq'3" on July 2 ( Sunday).
"Musiq'3'" is a representative local music festival held annually since 2011 under the name "Musiq'3", a radio channel of the Belgian public broadcaster RTBF. This year, under the theme of Utopia, there were 24 diverse performances expressing “the ideal beauty or the imagination that one can dream of independently of reality”.
The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium has signed a commercial agreement with "Musiq'3" Festival for 9 years, starting in 2015, in order to support the performances of Korean musicians. Featured across the festival were soprano HWANG Sumi, pianist CHO Seongjin and Esme Quartet, jazz pianist HEO Dae-wook Trio and Korean traditional performance group Company Yuhee.
The festival, which takes place the last three days of June in Flagey, a famous local theater hall, moves to Walloon Brabang in the fall to be held again. When the festival was born, the line-up consisted mainly of classical music, but now it has expanded to various musical genres such as jazz and contemporary music.
This year's Brussels Festival, which ran for three days from June 30 to July 2, invited KIM Suyeon, the first Asian to win the piano category at the Montreal International Competition in 2021, to perform as the closing event.
During this concert, KIM Soo-hyun performed George Gershwin's "Piano Concerto in F major" with the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Pieter-Jelle de Boer.
In addition, at the Brabang Wallong Festival, which will be held for 10 days from September 29 this fall, baritone KIM Taehan, the first Asian male winner of the vocal section of the Queen Elizabeth Competition this year, will perform at the opening stage. of the festival with world famous musicians like Lorenzo Gatto and Jonathan Fournel, I will decorate it.
In addition to the "Musiq'3" Festival, the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium continues to support the activities of Korean musicians through commercial agreements with the main local classical music institutions such as the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Music Chapelle and the Brussels Cello Festival.
