Around 70 attend the opening ceremony including Mr. Jeon Joyoung, Charge d'affaires of the Korean Embassy, Mr. Cho, Jaeil, the director of the Center, Mr. Shin Chang-hwan, President of Korea Animation Producers Association (KAPA), Mr. Yoo, Jaehyung, vice president of KAPA, Mr. Tory Yoon, CEO of Tory Arts, Sumith Simargool, President of Digital Content Association of Thailand (DCAT) and Mr. Park, Woong-jin, Director of Korea Creative Content Agency(KOCCA) in Thailand
Mr. Jeon, Charge d'affaires of the Korean Embassy said “Korea and Thai Character industry can seek a way to create new character by this exhibition, which is to show the exchange and development of Korean-Thai cultural contents” by his opening remark.
Mr. Shin, President of KAPA and Mr. Sumit, President of DCAT also delivered their congratulatory message. Mr. Shin said “Thank you for the Center for hosting this exhibition, which will contribute to the development of Character industry in both countries. I hope that character will be the core of IP (Intellectual property) industry in Korea and Thailand.” Mr. Sumit also said, “Character industry make people’s dream come true as characters can do everything. I hope work force of Character industry in both countries get to know each other and strengthen their own character by this exhibition.”
After the event, all participants looked around the exhibition. The Center also introduced the characters of webtoon, "ข้ามเวลาตามหาเมน”, which is co-produced by the Center and Kakao to commemorate Thai veterans of Korean War.
Mr. Cho, Jae Il, the director of the Center said, "The center prepare this exhibition to promote various Characters of Korea and Thailand while Character industry advance to the many fields such as Webtoon and Game. Interestingly, character industry in both countries have common; for example, there are characters using traditional tales such as 'Shinbi's Haunted House', ‘Monster club’ and ‘Holen’. We hope that the character industry of both country exchange and develop together by this exhibition."
