In May, the Korean Cultural Center Sweden (Koreanskt Kulturcenter) was officially opened as the first Korean Cultural Center in Nordic countries.
1. Celebrating the official inauguration of the Koreanskt Kulturcenter with 'Koreaveckan (Korean Week)' (May.8-12)
Korean Cultural Center Sweden (Koreanskt Kulturcenter) is the 34th cultural center in the world.
Our opening week program included a haegeum (해금) concert featuring the traditional Korean two-stringed instrument played with a bow, followed by a discussion with the artists. We also prepared a special program that reflects local demand and interest, such as Korean film screening, K-pop club, and Korean food tasting.
• (May 8) Official opening inauguration
• (May 9) Mini concert, IT:DA (잇:다)
• (May 10) Screening a Korean film 'Little Forest' with Korean cuisine, K-Movie Night
• (May 11) Korean Food and liquor tasting, Mumsiga Korea
• (May 12) K-POP club at KKC
2. Exhibiting 'Korean Food and Culture Box'
Our Cultural Center displays the "Korean Food Culture Box" produced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft and Design Foundation (KCDF). The Korean Food Culture Box is designed to showcase Korean food culture and craftsmanship.
By setting up the box in our cultural center, visitors can get more information about Korean cuisine, traditional table settings, and recipes.
• Korean Food and Culture Box is displayed on the G and 3rd floor of Koreanskt Kulturcenter
3. Korean cultural classes are continued
The classes covering traditional Korean arts, K-pop dance, and cooking are continued with students' immense support. In May, folk painting classes focused on drawing sogwa-do(소과도), peony blossom(모란꽃) and other traditional art figures. Through our one-day Hanji craft and origami class (making Hanbok), we could also introduce the beauty of Hanji and Hanbok.
In our cooking class, students could learn how to make mushroom rice and spring onion kimchi (버섯 솥밥과 파김치) and bulgogi and ssamjang (불고기와 쌈장)
