The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is pleased to partner with Fantasia 2023 to provide support for 'Spotlight on Korean Cinema.'

Celebrating its 27th edition, Fantasia is the largest genre film festival in North America, introducing fresh and excellent works. In collaboration with the KCC, Fantasia plans to invite and screen the latest films alongside retrospective classic films from the 1970s to the 2000s, reflecting on the history of Korean cinema.

'Spotlight on Korean Cinema,' retrospective on six classic Korean films that have shaped the Korean cinema, will have special screenings taking place at Cinémathèque Québécoise, and includes KIM Ki-young's <Io Island> (1977), PARK Kwang-su's <Chilsu and Mansu> (1988), LEE Chang-dong's <Peppermint Candy> (1999), IM Sang-soo's <Une femme coréenne(A Good Lawyer's Wife)> (2003) and <The President's Last Bang> (2005), as well as JEONG Jae-eun's <Take Care of My Cat> (2001).

In addition to the retrospective, there are ten new Korean feature films, including <THE ROUND-UP: NO WAY OUT,>, <NEW NORMAL>, <DEVILS>, <MS APOCALYPSE>, <MY WORST NEIGHBOR>, <MOTHER LAND>, <PHANTOM>, <THE NIGHT OWL>, <THE CHILDE> and <KILLING ROMANCE> and 13 short films at Fantasia this year.

The KCC will also host various events alongside the screenings to allow the Fantasia attendants to experience diverse Korean culture, which includes film poster photo booths and trying calligraphy.
