Events at KCCs abroad

The Consulate General of Los Angeles, the Nixon Foundation, the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles, and Hwarang Clean Foundation successfully held the "Celebrating 70 Years of the ROK-U.S. Alliance: Bridging the Past, Present, and Future" cultural event and seminar at the Nixon Library on June 20th.

During the event, General Richard Whicomb was honored with the Peace Medal for his efforts in promoting peace. The program also included a traditional coming-of-age ceremony and commitment ceremony for Korean-American youth, as well as a seminar focusing on the ROK-U.S. alliance. Notably, six Korean War veterans (Leo Grizzaffi, Manuel Adame, Roman Morales, Robert Clark, Robert Adams, Ben Espinoza) and their families participated in the event, adding significance to the 70th anniversary celebration of the alliance between Korea and the United States.

In particular, 55 youths, dressed in traditional Korean attire (hanbok), experienced the traditional coming-of-age ceremony while pledging their commitment and responsibility to the ROK-U.S. alliance in front of the veterans. Their actions were met with resounding applause from the attendees.
