As part of the year-long celebration to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea-Canada diplomatic relations, the Korean Culture & Information Service (KOCIS), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCC) and INSCAPE co-host ‘2023 Korean Culture Scene: Korean New Media Art Tour to Canada’ in Montreal and Toronto from August 18 to October 7.
INSCAPE is an international new media art platform launched in 2021 by Jay Bang, whose professional career spans from technical manager at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology and producer and curator at Samsung Creative Lab. Partnering with ELEKTRA Montreal, INSCAPE 2021 was a full-fledged new media art festival with a spectrum of exhibitions, performances, media façade and artist talks that went live with contributions from a constellation of artists around the world. INSCAPE 2023 is working with MUTEK (Montreal) and A Space Gallery (Toronto) to produce transdisciplinary art projects in Canada.
The Montreal program of <INSCAPE: New Homeostasis> will take place at UsineC on August 18 and 19. Two unique evenings will showcase eight new performances specially commissioned for the occasion, including Kohui, Yeono, Graycode, Jiiiiin (Korea), Susy.Technology, Martin Messier, Ida Toninato, Pierre-Luc Lecours, Olivia Lathuilliere (Canada), and Sahar Homami (Ireland/Denmark).

Korean New Media Art Tour - INSCAPE explores the concept of homeostasis—the process by which a living system maintains stability despite external disturbances—these works highlight the imbalance between our material civilization and humanity's spiritual capacity to make sense of it in the new technological and post-pandemic landscape.
Jay Bang, Artistic Director of INSCAPE, mentions "INSCAPE 2023 aims to be the most resonating pathway to contemplate various discourses around technology and the nature with the globally recognized artists from Korea and Canada."
In Toronto, Kohui, one of <INSCAPE> artists, will exhibit his recent works <INSCAPE: Perceive> and <Quire from Moments> at Toronto’s prestigious alternative art venue, A Space Gallery, from September 8 to October 7. On the opening night, Kohui will lead an artist Q & A and present a performance version of <Perceive> at the 401Richmond building where A Space Gallery resides.
