To commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Republic of Korea, the Korean Cultural Center, in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University's Department of Korean Language, hosted the 13th Chulalongkorn University Korean Language Department Korean Festival on August 24, 2023. The event took place at the Mahachakri Sirindhorn Building, Faculty of Arts.

The highlight of the festival was a competition in which 13 teams, consisting of both high school and university Korean language students. They showcased their creativity by preparing unique variations of kimchi using local Thai ingredients such as coconuts, pineapples, and oranges. The competition demonstrated the high level of interest and innovation among Thai students in the realm of kimchi preparation.

The results of the competition saw the Samsen Wittayalai School securing the first prize in the high school category for their kimchi creation, while Kasetsart University emerged as the university category champion with their kale-based kimchi. Mr. Jo Jae-il, the Director of the Korean Cultural Center, served as a judge and awarded prizes and gifts to the winning teams. The event celebrated cultural exchange and culinary creativity between Thailand and Korea, fostering closer ties on the occasion of this significant diplomatic milestone.
