The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium supports the local community’s “K-Showtime” festival Korean Wave


The Korean Cultural Center of the European Union in Belgium (director Kim Dong-eun) supported the organization of the Korean Wave festival “2nd K-Showtime” which was held at Tour&Taxi, a complex space in downtown Brussels , Saturday 9.


All 500 paid tickets for the festival were sold out early, demonstrating the great popularity of Korean culture in the region. Visitors were able to experience a variety of Korean culture, including K-pop, K-beauty, Korean cuisine and Hanbok, throughout the day.

This festival, organized by local club Korean Wave Chicken Squad, confirmed that the number of Korean Wave fans in the region is increasing and various content is gaining popularity.


Participants were able to learn pointe dances to the latest songs during a dance workshop with professional K-pop dancers Jubert and ALfie. Additionally, a random dance and K-pop dance competition where talented local teams could be seen in one place was organized and received a great response from visitors. Among the 24 teams that participated in the preliminaries, Team Fatalityx won the final.


Audience member Chris said, “It was really fun watching dance covers and singing our favorite songs with the K-pop fans. »


Visitors also learned about Korean traditional culture at various booths, including Hanbok Experience, Tuho Play, and Jegichagi.


Visitor Amélie said: “Now you can easily find Korean cosmetics anywhere. “I feel like I’m in Korea, listening to K-pop and eating tteokbokki,” he said with a smile.


Chicken Squad, the Korean Wave club that organized this event, organizes the festival every two years, starting with the first "K-Showtime" in 2021. They started as a K-pop cover team and became the most active Korean Wave community in the country.


Chicken Squad member Kim said, “The popularity of K-pop is now taken for granted. “We planned the festival to share with people the charms of various Korean cultures, including beauty treatments, hanbok and Korean cuisine,” he said.

This festival is part of the support project "Vitalization of Overseas Korean Wave Community" of Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (Director Gil-hwa Jeong) targeting excellent Korean wave communities around the world.
