In São Paulo, Brazil, a Korean contemporary dance work that explores new bodily relationships beyond humans and non-humans, and gender, portraying the liberation of women's bodies was performed.

The Korean contemporary dance team 'Art Project Bora', led by contemporary dancer and choreographer Kim Bora, participated in the '13th SESC International Dance Biennale' hosted by SESC, a representative cultural institution in Brazil. They performed their representative work 'Somoo' on the 20th and 21st in Campinas City, São Paulo State.

Following this performance, an additional performance of 'Somoo' was held on the 23rd at SESC Bom Retiro Theater in São Paulo to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korean immigration.

'Somoo', which premiered in 2015, has been selected as an excellent work by the Korea Arts Council Creation Workshop in 2015 and 2017. It is a work that has been invited to more than eight countries including France, Belgium, London and Argentina.

This performance was carried out as part of the 'Traveling Korean Arts' project to promote Korea's excellent culture and arts around the world by The Consulate General of The Republic Of Korea In Sao Paulo and KOFICE (Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange).

Kim Cheul-hong, Director of The Korean Cultural Center in Brazil, said "I am pleased to present <Somoo>, a Korean contemporary dance piece recognized internationally for its artistic quality at SESC (Brazil's largest cultural institution). I expect this piece will resonate especially well in Brazil where feminist movements are strong.“
