Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA, Director Sangwon Jung) & Korean-American Calligraphy Association (KACA) presented 'The 32nd Annual Exhibition of Korean-American Calligraphy Association,' for two weeks from August 25, 2023.

This exhibition was to commemorate the 120th year of Korean immigration to the United States and showcase various types of works from around 60 association members, including 14 new members.

Director Sangwon Jung of the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA) remarked, “Calligraphy stands as one of Korea's time-honored traditions, deeply woven into the lives of Koreans throughout the ages. More than a mere technique for writing characters, calligraphy embodies an art form that conveys personal sentiments and thoughts. This year's calligraphy exhibition at our cultural center aims to create a profound opportunity for grasping Korea's historical and cultural essence, while also immersing oneself in the Korean spirit.”

Since its establishment in 1990, the Korean-American Calligraphy Association has been dedicated to supporting the endeavors of Korean calligraphers in the United States. Their efforts have been focused on introducing and preserving our heritage of Calligraphy within mainstream American society and various ethnic communities. Serving as a cultural and artistic cornerstone, KACA has been tirelessly working towards the advancement of Korean traditional culture through impactful Korean calligraphy exhibitions and engaging workshops.
