Minhwa, which refers to Korean folk painting, is a traditional folk art from the Joseon era. It is usually produced by itinerant or unknown artists for daily use under the theme of the daily life of the ordinary people.

Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong is honored to cooperate with Asia Society Hong Kong to hold a Minhwa talk, and invite Ms. Young Ae Lee from <Art Minhwa> to be the speaker of the talk. She will be the ‘interpreter’ of Minhwa, interpreting the story behind Minhwa.

 

About the Speaker:

Youngae Lee 이영애 李英愛 (Art Name: 윤지 贇志)

Ms. Young Ae Lee is the Hong Kong reporter of <Art Minhwa Magazine>(월간민화). She has also established and is the leader of a Minhwa studio in Hong Kong called ‘RAON Hong Kong’(라온) with around 20 adult Hong Kong members and 10 child members. She is also a member of Songhyuen(송현민화) and Hwasanhoe(화산회) in Korea.

Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong is proud to have Ms. Seungyeon Kim, a Korean Heagum performer, to perform Heagum at the end of the talk on 6th October and bring the talk to a successful conclusion.

About the Performer:

Ms. Seungyeon Kim is a Heagum performer and music teacher in Korea. She has been imparting her expertise in Heagum to secondary school students and has a background in various Heagum performances.
