Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. and George Mason University's School of Dance in Fairfax, Virginia co-hosted a traditional Korean dance workshop with the National Dance Company of Korea (NDCK) on Friday, October 13. The workshop was held to promote the NDCK's original dance "Scent of Ink" and introduce Korean dance arts on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the ROK-U.S. Alliance.

Around 40 students majoring in dance at George Mason University (GMU) were in attendance. To begin the workshop, dancers from the NDCK introduced the basics of traditional Korean dance and traditional Korean rhythm "jangdan." After the students learned the basics, the dancers demonstrated the third chapter, "Orchid," among the works of "Scent of Ink before teaching the dance to the students. After the workshop, students had an interactive Q&A session with the artistic director of the NDCK Joung-deok Kim and GMU Professor Karen Reedy.
