How many varieties of kimchi are there? It was demonstrated by a private "Kimchi-making home competition" at the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary on November 10. This was the second year that the competition had been organized among the students of the cooking course, with a different concept. This year's focus was on kimchi. Competitors had to prepare a traditional and a creative version of kimchi. The final result was only limited by the contestants' imagination, as they could use all vegetables, sauces and spices found in the country. However, they had to adhere to the basic criteria: kimchi should be pickled with salt and the flavors come together during fermentation. Those who want to get to know Korean gastronomy more closely are welcome to the courses starting next March in the Cultural Center.
