On the 16th (Thursday), the Korean Cultural Center to Belgium and the E.U.(Director Kim Dongeun) held a promotional event for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo with a media façade against the backdrop of the Arc de Triomphe in Cinquantenaire Park in the center of Brussels.

At 7 p.m., when artist Lee Kyung’s “Embrace of Lights” media façade began, numerous visitors to the event venue were filled with admiration. In this video work, which repeats every six minutes, the artist captures the harmony between Korea and the world and his wishes for the future in a colorful video of light.

In particular, this work contains a wish to host the 2030 Busan World Expo, helping with last-minute promotion ahead of the decision on the venue for the upcoming World Expo. It is expected that more than 50,000 people, including Belgians and Europeans, will visit Parc Saint-Quentener to view the works during the exhibition period, which continues until the 22nd.

Brussels is home to major EU institutions comprised of 27 member states, as well as resident representatives of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) of 9 countries, and is where each country's PR competition to host the 2030 World Expo is the fiercest. It's one of them.

Soprano Sumi Jo, who visited Brussels for a special performance at this opening ceremony, performed four songs including ‘I am Korean’ and conveyed the pride and pride of being a Korean to people around the world.

The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium has been promoting the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo through various cultural events throughout the year. On June 17th and 18th, the Busan World Expo was promoted through the ‘Korean Wave Content Festival’ with over 47,000 attendees at Bourqué Square in the center of Brussels.

In addition, for four days starting from June 28, we participated as the guest of honor at the Ome River Festival, the oldest festival in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site, and invited BIE ambassadors, held a special Korean reception and Korean cultural performance, and held the 2030 Festival in Sablon Square downtown.
