Bomsori plays Tsjaikovski
in the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra's Elisabeth Weekend
Thursday 18 January: 20:00 @ Queen Elisabeth Hall, Antwerpen
Friday 19 January: 20:00 @ Muziekcentrum De Bijloke, Ghent
Saturday 20 January: 15:00 @ Queen Elisabeth Hall, Antwerpen
The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra will host the Korean violinist, Kim Bomsori, in their Elisabeth Weekend, a weekend dedicated to Queen Elisabeth's interest in Beligium's arts and culture. Since their first edition in 2021, the orchestra has invited one of the Queen Elisabeth Winners to join the Weekend, and this time, the chosen one is the greatest violinist, Kim Bonsori.
She is in fact that rarest of musical creatures, blessed with the innate inability to take the mighty warhorse concertos and raise them to the next level”: unprecedented praise for Korean violinist KIM Bomsori (2015 Queen Elisabeth Competition for Violin). This superstar and central guest of the Elisabeth weekend will unleash her energy on Tchaikovsky's moving Violin Concerto. Like his compatriot Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich drew on his personal experiences to compose his most successful music. His Symphony No. 10 is an intriguing work, imbued with musical irony, resonating with energy. Enjoy a world-class violinist in a program full of Russian grandeur, just the perfect match for conductor Eliahu Inbal.
*Also Elisabeth Weekend is also organizing two other concerts, where Bonsori will also perform:
Chamber music at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, January 17, 2024 at 20:15, @ Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel
Chambre music in AMUZ, January 21, 2024 at 15:00, @ AMUZ, Antwerpen
