Events at KCCs abroad

Exhibition titled ‘The Taste of Manhwa’, organized and hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary is available for visitors until the end of January.

The works in this exhibition include comics that were published as books after being serialized as webtoons, and vice versa. So regardless of the medium in which the stories were published, they are all manhwas, or comics that are distinctively Korean. Ha Minseok's children's comics bring the witty, imaginative and adventurous world of classic Korean children's comics to life, yet in a distinct authorial style. The comics by Lee Yoonhee, Ancco, Hong Yeonsik and Ma Youngshin are outstanding in both illustration and text. The genre characteristics of the teen comic, action, martial arts, romance and fantasy elements all appear in these works. Sooshinji’s Sarin, the daughter-in-law, has appeared in a series on the author's social media platforms, independent of webtoon platforms, where it quickly gained popularity.

The exhibition can be visited in the opening hours of the Korean Cultural Center in Budapest for free of charge by 31 January.
