KOICA and UBEC have organized a two-day conference in Nigeria, focusing on "Institutionalisation of Smart Education." The goal is to enhance efforts in establishing sustainable and inclusive smart quality education in Nigerian public schools. Key stakeholders, including state education officials and representatives from the Ministry of Education, are participating. The conference highlights progress in Nigeria's Smart Schools Programme and encourages discussions on the role of technology in basic education.
KOICA supports six schools with a $10.4 million grant, contributing to international and local capacity building for teachers. Achievements include training for education executives, capacity building for smart school leadership and teachers, and the development of digital content in Maths and Science. The Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, acknowledges the significant costs associated with providing qualitative smart education and expresses gratitude to KOICA for its support. He calls for collaborative efforts from various stakeholders to further this initiative.
