Events at KCCs abroad

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Turkiye, under the leadership of Ambassador Lee Won-ik, co-hosted a commemorative event for the 73rd anniversary of the Korean War's Geumyangjangni Battle on January 25th in collaboration with the Turkish Veterans Association. The event was attended by over 320 individuals, including Korean War veterans, military personnel, representatives from local governments, ambassadors from participating nations, and various dignitaries.


Ediz Surucu, the Deputy Governor of Ankara, and Ahmet Karamahmut, the Commander of the 4th Corps, were among the distinguished guests. Following the ceremony, the embassy organized a memorial luncheon for Korean War veterans and their families.


The event paid tribute to the noble sacrifices of Turkish veterans who fought for the freedom of the Republic of Korea. Attendees, including officials from the Turkish Veterans Association, executives from the Luxembourg Embassy, and the Ambassador of Thailand, commemorated the profound spirit of Turkish veterans who sacrificed for the freedom of South Korea.


The program commenced with offerings, silent reflection, and the national anthems of both countries. The proceedings included a commemorative speech by Ambassador Lee Won-ik, followed by tributes to Ottoman Yasar, a Korean War veteran, and a speech by Beyazit Yumuk, the President of the Veterans Association.
