On February 3-4, The Korean Cultural Center Thailand co-hosted the event “11th THA CHOI YOUNG SEOK CUP RSU INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2024” with the Taekwondo Association of Thailand at Rangsit University, Pathum Thani Campus.
This competition has been organized since 2012. This time there were more than 1,700 athletes competing, and medals with the opportunity to be selected as Thai national taekwondo athletes to those who received 1st and 2nd place.
His Excellency Mr. Park Yong-min, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, expressed his gratitude to Coach Choi Yong-Seok, who trains taekwondo aspirants throughout Thailand by organizing sports competitions every year and awakening the trend of taekwondo sports in Thailand. He also delivered a certificate of honor and prize money from the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to Coach Choi Young-Seok for his dedication to improving the promotion of Korean culture abroad.
Coach Choi has dedicated himself promoting Taekwondo in Thailand for over 22 years. in addition, Coach Choi has been selected as an honorary ambassador for Korean culture and Korean tourism public relations ambassador and also serves as a bridge between the two countries in various fields such as sports, culture, and tourism.
At the opening ceremony on February 3, a demonstration was performed by the Taekwondo Demonstration Team of Yongsan University which received a lot of applause from many audiences.
In Thailand, there are more than 1 million people practicing Taekwondo, and Taekwondo is considered top three sports that Thai people love the most.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Thailand and the Korean Cultural Center would like to support and give encouragement to the development of taekwondo in Thailand and wish the best for competing in the Paris Olympics this year.
