On August 27, 2023, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea and the Indian Consulate General jointly hosted an Independence Day celebration, a first of its kind in New York. Held at the Indian House, the event commemorated the independence of Korea in 1945 and India in 1947, both of which occurred on August 15. The celebration, attended by notable leaders from the Indian and Korean communities, featured congratulatory remarks from Consul General Euy Whan Kim.
