The Korean Cultural Center in Brazil in collaboration with the local film distributor California Films, the movie OTT platform TeleCine and the Korean market 'Ottugui Mart' organized a local preview screening event for the film ‘Past Lives’.
The pre-screening event held on January 23rd (Wednesday), two days before the local release on January 25th at the Itaú Espaço Cinema within the Frei Caneca Shopping Mall in Brazil attracted significant local interest, filling the 250-seat theater.
The film 'Past Lives' won the highest honor at the 58th National Critics' Association Awards, the 33rd Gotham Awards, and won the Best Picture Award and the Best Director Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards 2024. Besides, the film was nominated for the 96th Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Motion Picture, setting a record of 75 wins at the world's leading awards.
In addition, after the event was over, the audience took time to taste the soju that the main character used to drink in the movie, and the after party was held.
Local films and media outlets reported articles promoting the film, which was nominated for two Academy Awards this year, in line with the release of the film. It has been about a month since its release in Brazil, and it has surpassed 100,000 cumulative audiences in cinemas across the country.
