The Korean Cultural Center of Los Angeles hosted a private, advanced screening of “Earl.” a documentary feature film directed by Emmy award winning storyteller Ty Kim on Thursday, April 4 at 7:00pm.
"Earl." is the extraordinary story of a true pioneer whose life spans generations and worlds. It is also the story about the power of music to transform lives. For the first time, audio interviews of the American composer Earl Kim (1920-1998) have been unearthed and presented in this stirring narrative. The film showcases some of the most accomplished composers and artists including the violinist Itzhak Perlman who recorded an album with the composer.
The event was fully packed with Director Ty Kim, film cast including Earl Kim's family, music officials, and local Americans. The audience gave a great review after watching the film, saying, "I was moved by the artistry and spirit of Earl Kim.", "It's a very good documentary.". The KCCLA will hold a number of cultural events that will highlight forgotten Korean American artists and help them gain recognition.
