Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center in Brazil (Director Kim Cheol-hong) plans to conduct extracurricular Taekwondo classes starting in mid-April with the support of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation. Instructor Lim Yeon-cheol, dispatched from the Kukkiwon institution, will manage and promote the project.


The extracurricular Taekwondo classes were held for the first time for 50 students at the Prof. Helena M. Mafra de Castro Municipal School in Mogi das Cruzes, near São Paulo. The schedule includes delivering 128 classes by December 2024.

The municipal school's director, Sandra Maria, said, "We are grateful for the support of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation and the Cultural Center, and we look forward to positively impacting children's education through extracurricular Taekwondo classes."


Director Kim Cheol-hong of the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil said, "This year is special as Taekwondo activities have been incorporated into public education following extracurricular K-Pop classes. If the Taekwondo classes are successful, we will discuss ways to include it in the regular curriculum", revealing the cultural center's future plans.
