1. Consul General Euy Whan Kim invited Linda G. Mills, President of New York University to have a banquet and discussed various measures to strengthen cooperation in education based on the partnership between KAIST and New York University at his residence on March 6, 2024.
Professor Hyeon Yeo(Dean, KAIST G School, Chairman NYU-KAIST), Professor Kyunghyun Cho(NYU, Deputy Director for NYU Center for Data Science & Courant Institute), Jonathan Kim(Member of NYU President's Global Council, Founder & Managing Partner, REDBADGE PACIFIC), Dr. Karin Ezbiansky Pavese( NYU, Executive Director & Senior Research Scholar, NYU-KAIST) and Randy Peers(President of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce) also joined the banquet to discuss the current status of cooperation and development plans in various fields such as science and technology, humanities, and arts.
※ President Mills was appointed as the first female president since the foundation of NYU in 1831. She has been actively engaged to expand NYU's extension since July last year.
2. President Mills expressed expectation for continued cooperation with Korea saying that she was deeply grateful to Korea for the successful hosting of two Digital Vision Forum hosted by New York University in 2022 and 2023 under the presence of the President Yoon Suk Yeol.
In addition, President Mills highly praised that more than 1,000 Korean international students at New York University for being outstanding in their studies and contributing to the diversity of New York University.
3. Consul General Kim and President Mills agreed that New York University and KAIST should work together to promote their exchanges in the academic field while the next generation of United States is more interested in Korea and Korean culture and Korea-U.S. relations are developing in the field of science and technology.
