In May 2024, the Central European Dance Theater will organize the International Monodance Festival for the eleventh time, which will once again be hosted by the Bethlen Téri Theater.
The International Monodance Festival, which started in 2005, is a unique cultural event in Hungary. The program of the biennale-style festival always selects from dance performances created in recent years, providing the essence of the monodances created by the most outstanding creators and performers of the domestic and international dance scene. In addition to the well-known domestic artists and performers, several world-renowned artists have presented themselves at the event over the years. The first Monotanz Festival was held in 2019 in Seoul, South Korea, as another stage of internationalization.
Since then, a festival has been organized alternately every year in Budapest and Seoul. The Central European Dance Theater was represented at all of the events filling the gaps abroad, and the South Korean audience could see three solo performances of K-Faces by the Bethlen Téri Theater's resident troupe.
The 11th International Monodance Festival will present 5 Korean dancers between 21 and 25 May: Seungkwan Yang, Yelim Kim, Won Kim, Seo-jin Moon, and Aram Kang.
The event is supported by the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary.
