The Korean Cultural Center in the United Arab Emirates held a 'Korean Culture Conference' at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, the largest book-related event in the host country.
Co-hosted with the 'Sea of Cultural Foundation,' a cultural institution in Abu Dhabi, the event proceeded under the theme 'How Did Korea Become a Top Player in World Culture?' Korean panelist Park Young-il (Director of the Korea Content Promotion Institute Dubai Center) and Egyptian panelist Mohamed Hasan Abdelhafiz Mohamed engaged in a high-level discussion comparing the cultural strengths of the United States and present-day Korea. They particularly focused on exploring the efforts, both private and governmental, that have propelled Korea to its current position.
Attendees including local cultural institution representatives, publishing industry professionals, content creators, and general participants actively participated in discussions, sharing inspiration relevant to their fields. One local publishing industry professional expressed a desire to introduce Korean literature to the Middle East, indicating a willingness for future collaboration.
Through this conference, the Korean Cultural Center aims to engage in local collaborations across various cultural fields beyond K-Pop, K-Food, and K-Beauty. It plans to introduce Korea's diverse culture alongside various events held in the United Arab Emirates, showcasing the broad spectrum of Korean culture.
