Cultural osmosis through foreign drama series

I have always believed that there is always something new and interesting to learn from what’s happening in our everyday life. This is why when I have some free time, I like to watch selected foreign drama series on a popular streaming platform. The fare includes Korean, Japanese, Indian, Chinese, Nigerian or Turkish, be it comedy or soap-opera type.

In a typical household, it’s usually the female members of the family who watch teledramas but believe it or not my wife doesn’t share my interest and would often needle me in a slight mocking tone about what she calls my “obsession with trash dramas.” She said they’re lowbrow entertainment and I should know better.

Well, I think I know better.

While it is true they are primarily entertainment driven and progressively more sensational, foreign dramas can still give you more substantial satisfaction, beyond merely providing you a way to pass the time or junk food for the mind.
