Events at KCCs abroad

On 7 and 8 June, a contemporary dance ritual titled “LIGHT-DROP” was held by Hungarian dancer and choreographer Batarita and Korean dance artist based in Amsterdam Jihae Ko.

In ancient times, dance was the sacred language of communication with the cosmos. The dance was an offering to bring a spiritual connection to the community. The two creators, through their close relationship with nature presented a contemporary ritual to the audience, with their specific dance language, voice and instruments, with their performance titled “LIGHT-DROP”. The creative bodies existing in harmony actively involved the viewer in the process of the performance and at the same time the ritual, promoting the discovery of the inner dance and the inner voice. The participants established a deep connection with themselves, their bodies, their environment and those present.

The International Performing Arts Biennale ‘Body.Radical’ organized by Touchpoint Art Foundation was initiated in 2009 with the aim to introduce various Asian contemporary performing arts to Hungary. The Korean-Hungarian co-production was organized in Balatonboglár and Ceglédbercel in early June, and performances are scheduled to 2025 in Amsterdam, Seoul, Tegu and Jeju as well.

The event was supported by the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary.
