Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center in Sweden (KKC) attended the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) ceremony on June 4th, 2024.

This year, the award was presented to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) for its efforts in promoting literacy and providing access to quality literature for First Nations children in Australia. The director and staff of the KKC participated in the ceremony to congratulate this year's recipient, the ILF.

The ALMA was established in 2002 by the Swedish government with the aim of promoting the right of every child to access high-quality literature. Named after Astrid Lindgren, who played a significant role in the development of children's literature as an art form, the award is presented to individuals who carry on her legacy. In 2020, Baek Heena, a picture book artist, became the first Korean laureate to receive the ALMA.
