KCCLA co-sponsors story time at Pio Pico Library
The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles will host “The House Before Falling Into the Sea,” a Korean story time event with Korean American author Ann Suk Wang on July 24, at 4 p.m. at the Pio Pico Library in Koreatown. The event is being held in commemoration of Korean War Armistice Day on July 27.
Wang will introduce “The House Before Falling Into the Sea,” published in March by Dial Books, a division of Penguin Random House. The book, based on a true story experienced by the author’s family during the Korean War, conveys messages of solidarity and hope. It was named a Gold Standard Selection by the Junior Library Guild and received good reviews from Kirkus Reviews and The Horn Book.
The story time event is co-hosted by the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Public Library. Wang will present stories about Korean history and culture to children through storytelling accompanied by music. A Q&A session and a book signing will be held.
Wang, born in Korea and a graduate of UCLA and Boston University, is a former journalist. The event is free and open to the public.
The Pio Pico Library is located at 694 S. Oxford Ave. For information, visit kccla.org and lapl.org/ branches/pio-pico.
