Korea F/W 2014 Set to Grab Attention in New York – the City of Fashion
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST; Minister Yoo Jin-ryong), Korea Creative Content Agency (President Hong Sang-pyo), Daegu Metropolitan City, and Korea Research Institute for Fashion Industry will hold Concept Korea F/W 2014 at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York on February 11.
This
year marks the ninth season of Concept Korea, which consists of Main Concept
Korea and Pre-Concept Korea. The aim of Concept Korea is to publicize Korean
designer brands and support Korean designers in establishing a firm foundation
abroad.
Main Concept Korea is held as part of official events of New York Fashion Week, aimed at supporting leading Korean designers in advancing into the US market. Main Concept Korea will include four leading Korean designers - Ko Tae-yong, Park Youn-soo, Lee Suk-tae, and Choi Bo-ko. The designers will showcase uniquely Korean designs to have hallyu (the Korean Wave) reach New York, the city of fashion.
The event will be directed by Seo Yoon-mi, who also directed the creative musicals Romance of Their Own and Black Mary Poppins. Actors Kim Da-hyeon and Kim Ho-yeong are members of the cast. Korean fashion, featuring various unique colors, will be combined with musical elements for a dynamic display of Korean beauty.
Around 500 people will attend the event, including the famous fashion blogger Susie Bubble, ELLE Magazine editor Jade Frampton, The New York Times chief editor Bruce Pask, local fashion experts, influential media officials from overseas, and buyers.
Pre-Concept Korea is held to support the business of new brands so that they could build a stable foundation for growth. It will consist of various programs, including a collaboration program with concept stores and the holding of a fashion exhibition. Participating designers include Kathleen Kye, Kim Seo-ryong, and Kim Hong-bum.
