Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Director Sangwon Jung), in collaboration with 325KAMRA (President Linda Papi Rounds) successfully hosted the Korean Adoptee Story event "Finding Family" on August 19.

During the event, the audience was able to share in the feelings of frustration, anger, healing, and hope experienced by Korean adoptees as they navigate the process of adoption and discovering their roots. These emotions were conveyed through a reading of the book Together At Last, which tells the stories of Korean adoptees. The stories shared were deeply moving, recounting the adoptees' experiences of being born in Korea, adopted into American families, and later discovering their birth families through DNA testing.

Additionally, a screening was held featuring scenes from the forthcoming documentary Relative Strangers by Emmy Award-winning director Deann Borshay Liem. The film explores the sense of loss and the journey to find their roots experienced by Korean adoptees. Deann Liem, herself a Korean adoptee, is renowned for her documentaries that focus on themes of war, memory, family, and identity.
