Spotlight on Korean Animation
[Short Films Program]
In this special exhibition at the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), a selection of Korean short films from 2010 to 2024 will be showcased, focusing on even years. This selection primarily includes award-winning films from international festivals and works recognized by the Academy Awards. Aligning with this year’s OIAF ‘Stop Motion’ theme, the program features two stop-motion animations by directors KIM Jinman and KIM Kangmin, alongside works by prominent Korean female directors JOUNG Yumi, JEONG Dahee, JANG Nari, IM Chaerin, HAN Jiwon, and KIM Hanna. Notably, KIM Hanna’s Student Academy Award-winning film will also be screened. These directors, who have consistently submitted their works to the Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF) since their student days, are now gaining recognition as established artists, raising great anticipation for their future works.

[Feature Film: Your Letter]
The Ottawa International Animation Festival proudly presents the world premiere of Your Letter, an adaptation of Hyeon A Cho’s popular webtoon and manga. Directed by KIM Yonghwan, this film marks his feature directorial debut and features the voice talents of Lee Su-hyun from the K-pop duo AKMU.
Sori Lee hopes for a fresh start at her new school―but every single thing reminds her of why she transferred. When she discovers an anonymous letter taped to the bottom of her desk, it becomes the perfect distraction. Little does Sori know that she’s about to embark on the scavenger hunt of a lifetime! What begins as simple curiosity soon becomes a healing journey, as Sori discovers the profound impact of small acts of kindness.
Director KIM Yonghwan will be present at the Festival for an audience Q&A session.
