Made-in-Hollywood K-Drama Western Avenue Special Screening Held Successfully
The Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles (Director Sangwon Jung) hosted a successful special screening event of the K-drama Western Avenue, produced in Hollywood, on February 12 at the cultural center's Ari Hall. This 90-minute screening, commemorating the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation, featured the first Korean content produced by Korean immigrant filmmakers and was followed by an insightful discussion about the lives of immigrants.
Western Avenue is an inspiring story about the challenges and hopes of Korean immigrants set in Hollywood. The drama is available to stream on Amazon Prime and On Demand Korea. It has been praised for its honest portrayal of Korean immigrants' hardships, frustrations, challenges, and hopes in their journey toward mainstream society. The proceeds from the drama will be entirely donated to the Korean community.
Director Yoo Seok Jong and the cast members, including leading actor Jongman Kim, attended the screening. After the event, they shared the background and behind-the-scenes stories of the production with the audience. The audience expressed deep empathy for the realistic depiction of Korean immigrants' lives in the drama and showed their support for the global spread of Korean content.
