Events at KCCs abroad

On January 30, the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand hosted a special workshop on the Janggu, a Korean musical instrument, to celebrate Seollal, the Korean New Year.

This special workshop was conducted by Mr. Yoon Yeo Ju, an expert in Korean folk music. He lectured on the Korean musical instrument, the Janggu, and provided insights into the Hwimori rhythm. He also explained the three basic methods of striking the instrument.

All participants enjoyed playing the Janggu to the rhythm of HwiMori, accompanied by the melody of the Taepyeongso, a Korean wind instrument, played in the background.

Additionally, everyone clarified their questions about the Janggu, including how to tune its sound and how to play alternating sides more easily.

Korean Cultural Center hopes this special workshop will help everyone deepen their understanding and enhance their knowledge of Korean traditional instruments.
