Events at KCCs abroad

On February 16th, the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil (CCCB) held a gayageum byeongchang performance, a traditional Korean style in which performers sing and play the gayageum, a traditional South Korean string instrument, at the 3rd Lunar New Year Festival – Seollal, organized by the Bom Retiro Fair (Feira do Bom Retiro, in Portuguese), in the Bom Retiro neighborhood.

The 20-minute performance featured artist Soeui Yang, instructor of the gayageum course at CCCB, and seven of her students, and was well received by the audience. In addition to gayageum byeongchang, Soeui Yang also performed Pansori, a genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer, and the traditional song 'Bangataryeong'. The last part of the performance featured traditional Korean folk songs, such as 'Arirang' and 'Doraji', performed by the artist and her students.
