Events at KCCs abroad

 

Last Friday, 28 February, the Korean Cultural Centre in South Africa (KCCSA) kicked off its highly anticipated Lunch Hour Performance 2025 series with an electrifying K-pop dance performance by South African sensation, Lindsay Setlema. The launch event, held at the KCCSA in Brooklyn, Pretoria, transformed the midday break into an unforgettable cultural experience.

 

A large and enthusiastic crowd gathered to witness Lindsay Setlema and his talented team of dancers deliver a high-energy performance that left the audience captivated. Lindsay, a celebrated K-pop dance artist with over 20 years of experience, showcased his mastery through powerful choreography and dynamic stage presence. Known for his numerous accolades, including winning the 2018 Changwon K-Pop World Festival in South Africa and securing first place at the 2024 American Dance Awards, Lindsay's performance was a testament to the global influence of K-pop and its growing fanbase in South Africa.

 

Speaking about the successful launch, Jiyeol YOU, director of KCCSA remarked, "We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to the first event of our Lunch Hour Performance 2025 series. Lindsay Setlema's performance was the perfect start, highlighting the vibrancy and appeal of Korean culture. This series aims to provide an accessible platform for South Africans to explore and appreciate the diverse aspects of Korean heritage."

 

The Lunch Hour Performance 2025 series is a new initiative by KCCSA designed to bring the richness of Korean culture to a wider audience. The series will feature a variety of performances spanning traditional and contemporary Korean art forms, all presented during lunchtime to accommodate working professionals and students alike. Admission is free, but registration is required to ensure a seamless experience for attendees.

 

This series is just the beginning of KCCSA's cultural calendar for 2025, promising an exciting lineup of events aimed at strengthening cultural ties between South Korea and South Africa.
