Events at KCCs abroad

On March 26, the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary successfully hosted a cultural event at Illyés Gyula High School in Budaörs, Hungary, as part of the school’s cultural festival. This event provided students with the opportunity to explore the richness and diversity of Korean culture, under the guidance of the Korean Cultural Center.

Beyond popular elements of the Korean Wave like K-pop and K-dramas, the event focused on introducing Korean cuisine and the Korean language, sparking interest among many students. Attendees had the chance to prepare traditional Korean dishes themselves and participated in a program where they learned to write their names in Hangeul. Some students even expressed a strong desire to study Korean more deeply.

Hye Ryeong YU, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary, emphasized that this event was part of the “Five Senses Korean Culture Festival,” which is specifically aimed at Hallyu fans in local areas with fewer opportunities to experience Korean culture compared to those in Budapest. She also shared, “With this event as a starting point, we will continue our efforts to promote Korean culture across various cities in Hungary.”

This cultural experience allowed Hungarian students to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Korea. The Korean Cultural Center is expected to continue playing a key role in spreading Korean culture in Hungary through a variety of future programs.
