Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center in Poland, in collaboration with the Literature Translation Institute of Korea, the Korea Publishing Industry Promotion Agency, the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency, and Polish publishing partners, is proud to announce that the Republic of Korea will participate as the Guest of Honor at the 2025 Warsaw International Book Fair — the first Asian country to receive this distinction.
The fair will take place from May 15 to 18 at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw.

This year’s Guest of Honor theme is "Bridging Worlds Through Words" (Polish: Światy Łączone Słowami), highlighting the history and evolution of literature as a cornerstone of culture and the role it plays in fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange between Korea and Poland.

At the 200㎡ Guest of Honor Pavilion, visitors can experience a wide array of programs and exhibitions, including:

  • A display of Korean literary works and Korea-related publications available in Polish

  • A special exhibition on Hunminjeongeum and Korean literature

  • An introduction to Korean webtoons

  • An immersive exhibition featuring key excerpts from Korean and Polish literary works

  • G2B (government-to-business) consultations hosted by the Literature Translation Institute of Korea

Additionally, a separate B2B networking program will be held for 15 Korean publishers and professionals from the Polish publishing industry, organized by the Korea Publishing Industry Promotion Agency.

Ten writers, invited as official representatives of Korea (in alphabetical order: Kim Bo-young, Kim Ho-yeon, Park Sang-young, Victor Cha, Shin Kyung-sook, Yeon So-min, Yoon Jung-eun, Jeon Hye-jin, Jung Bo-ra, and Ramon Pacheco Pardo) will meet Polish readers through talks and book signings to share their creative worlds.

Other events include:

  • Lectures by Korean-Polish translators and literary experts

  • A workshop on Korean children’s literature

  • A G2B seminar by the Literature Translation Institute of Korea for the Polish publishing industry

These programs aim to meet the growing interest in Korean literature in Poland.

Furthermore, a diverse lineup of cultural events will highlight the intersection of Korean and Polish literature and arts, including:

  • A creative pansori (Korean musical storytelling) performance inspired by Polish literary works

  • A contemporary music concert featuring works by Korean composers

  • A Korean film screening series based on Korean literature and webtoons
