Events at KCCs abroad

South Korea’s KOICA and Nigeria’s UBEC have completed the first phase of a Smart Education Project, introducing digital classrooms, teacher training, and locally made learning content to model schools in Kano, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Ekiti, Cross River, and the FCT. Since 2021, the initiative has addressed high numbers of out-of-school children, low foundational skills, and poor digital literacy among teachers. Achievements include Nigeria’s first Smart Education Master Plan, training 300+ teachers, establishing six content studios, and producing 4,000 digital Math and Science resources. Over 8,000 learners in 21 states have benefited indirectly. The project shifts learning from teacher-led to student-centred, with smart school pupils outperforming peers. Phase two will expand to 37 smart schools nationwide, aiming for sustainable, inclusive, tech-driven education.
