In celebration of the 579th Hangeul Day, the Korean Cultural Centre Australia is pleased to invite you to a special program featuring an emerging Korean calligrapher, Injoong Lee Jeong-hwa.


This year’s events will highlight the unique beauty of Hangeul, showcasing a variety of traditional Korean script styles and the deep emotion conveyed through each stroke. These events offer deeper insight into the artistic significance of Hangeul and its compelling expression as both language and visual art.


The program includes a lecture on traditional Korean calligraphy, a large-scale live performance, and a hands-on workshop where you can explore the essence of Korean calligraphy. –Hangeul Day Special Lecture <A Journey from Heart to Heart>


Calligrapher Lee Jeong-hwa will present a special lecture at the Korean Cultural Centre Australia in celebration of Hangeul Day. The lecture introduces traditional Korean script styles found in historic letters, highlighting the unique beauty of Hangeul and the artistry of calligraphy. Attendees will gain a new appreciation of the history and aesthetics of Hangeul calligraphy. The event also includes a large-scale live calligraphy performance. – Traditional Korean Calligraphy Workshop <Pouring Cosmos into the Moonlight>


Join a small-group hands-on workshop led by the calligrapher Lee Jeong-hwa, where you will learn and practice various traditional Korean script styles used in letter writing. Explore the distinctive features of classic script styles such as Gungseo, Panbon, and Minche, and experience the profound beauty of Hangeul calligraphy. All participants will receive a special folding fan featuring original calligraphy artwork by the calligrapher. About the Artist: Lee Jeong-hwa


Lee Jeong-hwa is a prominent young calligrapher based in South Korea, known for expressing the inner emotions of individuals through her calligraphy. She has contributed calligraphy to popular TV dramas such as “Mr. Sunshine,” “Hotel Del Luna,” and “Moon Embracing the Sun,” as well as films like “The King’s Letters” and “The Sound of a Flower,” bridging traditional art with contemporary culture. She has also performed and taught calligraphy in over 15 countries worldwide, held various exhibitions, and published a calligraphy-related book.

-To join the program, please apply by 23:59 (AEST) on 21/09/2025 (SUN).


– Only selected participants will be notified via email on 22/09/2025 (MON). If you are unable to attend after your application is successful, please inform us at sejong@koreanculture.org.au at least 48 hours before the event so that your spot can be offered to someone on the waiting list. Failure to notify us may affect your eligibility for future programs.
