The 2025 Literature Night event took place on September 17 at the P+P Gallery, featuring a reading of Han Kang’s We Do Not Part.
Han Kang, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2024, is one of Korea’s most acclaimed novelists and poets. Her novel We Do Not Part addresses the tragic Jeju April 3 Uprising in modern Korean history, reflecting on memory, loss, and the search for healing.
Actress Lenka Krobotová of the Dejvice Theatre delivered a compelling reading of an excerpt from the novel, which captivated the audience with its emotional depth and resonance.
The event was organized by the Czech Center and EUNIC, with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea participating as a special guest. It served as a meaningful occasion to highlight the growing cultural ties between Korea and the Czech Republic through literature. Many attendees expressed admiration for the power of Han Kang’s storytelling and its universal relevance.
In his remarks, Ambassador Hong Young-ki emphasized that literature plays an important role in deepening mutual understanding of history and culture between Korea and the Czech Republic, and in fostering cultural exchange.
