Events at KCCs abroad

The National Museum of Australia has unveiled its 2025 program, spotlighting two major exhibitions: a nostalgic winter showcase of Mr Squiggle and Friends: The Creative World of Norman Hetherington, followed by a summer extravaganza called Hallyu! The Korean Wave.

From 4 July to 13 October 2025, the Mr Squiggle exhibition brings beloved ABC characters like Mr Squiggle, Blackboard, Rocket, Bill Steamshovel, and Gus the Snail to life through over 800 items — puppets, scripts, props, costumes — drawn from the Norman Hetherington collection. The show is free and designed to evoke childhood memories while inspiring creativity across generations.

After Mr Squiggle, the museum will pivot into Hallyu! The Korean Wave, running from 12 December 2025 to 10 May 2026. Developed by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the exhibition features 250 objects — from K-pop and K‑drama to fashion and film — including items linked to Parasite, Squid Game, and PSY’s Gangnam Style. It will also include a full program of music, dance, food, and film to immerse visitors in contemporary Korean culture. NMA Director Katherine McMahon called it “a K‑Museum takeover,” offering Australians a rare chance to experience the power and creativity of the global Korean cultural movement.
