Since its opening in 2012, the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary has been sharing the richness of Korean culture with the Hungarian public for over a decade. The diverse cultural courses that began alongside the Center stand as vivid proof of the deep and lasting bond that has developed with the Hungarian community over the years. What started in 2012 with just three areas — Korean gastronomy (hansik), calligraphy, and taekwondo — has since blossomed into a vibrant community offering more than 1,600 sessions each year to nearly 15,000 active participants, spanning traditional crafts, music and dance, sports, and modern pop culture. In addition to its Budapest headquarters, the Center also holds calligraphy classes at the Talentum School in Tata.
Many of our classes are now led by Hungarian instructors who once joined as students. They turned to Korean culture with passion, developed into talented teachers through the courses, and today pass on the same dedication to their own students.
In the spirit of this lively intellectual exchange, the Center is delighted and proud to present the exhibition ‘Echoes of Korea in Hungary’. The exhibition is more than a simple display; it is a celebration of the cycle through which a shared love of culture forges bonds, and in which students one day become masters.
Artworks from four courses have been gathered that offer insight into the world of traditional Korean arts: Folk painting (Minhwa); Korean calligraphy; Patchwork (Jogakbo); and Handicraft using Korean paper (Hanji) and knots (Maedeup). The exhibition can be visited by 13th of March, 2026 for free in the opening hours of the Center.
