Parols, Korean lanterns unite to light up PH holiday season

Lighting fixtures from the Philippines and South Korea are set to jointly illuminate Manila and Taguig City this Christmas season.

The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) have partnered for "Light the Season: A Korea-Philippines Lantern Display."

The project showcases the country's iconic star-shaped parol lanterns alongside the famed silk lanterns from Jinju, South Korea, which will illuminate the facade and ground floors of the NCCA building in Intramuros and the KCC office in Taguig.

"The display celebrates the Philippines’ iconic Christmas traditions through a vibrant display of parol and Jinju silk lanterns, highlighting the rich craftsmanship and cultural heritage shared by both countries," the KCC said in a statement.
