Filipino parol, Korean silk lanterns illuminate cultural exchange in holiday display
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines launched “Light the Season: A Korea-Philippines Lantern Display” Monday, showcasing Filipino parol alongside Korean Jinju silk lanterns in a celebration of shared craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
The exhibition runs through January 6, 2026, at the NCCA building facade and lobby in Intramuros and the KCC ground floor in Taguig, highlighting the Philippines’ iconic Christmas traditions through vibrant displays of traditional lanterns from both nations.
The showcase presents Filipino parols—cherished star-shaped Christmas symbols decorating homes, streets, and communities nationwide—alongside exquisite Korean silk lanterns originating from Jinju in Gyeongsangnam-do Province.
