Workshop with Hanji craftsman Chi Yong An at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome (Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma)

From December 9th to 11th, 2025, Hanji craftsman Chi Yong An held a workshop on the production of traditional Korean Hanji paper for students of the Graphic Design Department at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome (Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma).

Master An, a holder of the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Korea, introduced the students to the various stages of Hanji production and, in particular, demonstrated the use of the Jitong, a traditional papermaking vat donated to the Academy by the Korean government.

We hope that Hanji will continue to serve as a bridge between Korea and Italy in the fields of art and conservation.
