Join us at the Korean Cultural Centre in Pretoria for an 8-Week Short Course on Korean Brush Writing!

Immerse yourself in the graceful art of Seoye (서예, traditional Korean brush calligraphy), where brush, ink, and paper come together to transform writing into visual expression. This eight-session course introduces basic techniques, brush control, and the structure of Hangeul (the Korean alphabet), while exploring the cultural and artistic foundations of the practice. Each session builds your skills while deepening your appreciation for this timeless craft. Whether you're completely new or already curious about calligraphy, this hands-on journey offers a peaceful and inspiring way to connect with Korean culture.

Participants must attend all eight sessions to complete the course and fully enjoy the creative process.

Seoye (서예)

Seoye is the traditional Korean art of brush calligraphy, where writing becomes both visual art and personal expression. Using brush, ink, and hanji (traditional Korean paper), artists focus on balance, rhythm, and the flow of each stroke, reflecting discipline, emotion, and respect for tradition. More than beautiful handwriting, Seoye is a meditative practice that has been cherished in Korea for centuries.
