On August 31, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York held a meeting with a delegation from Gochang County, led by Vice Governor Kim Young-sik, to discuss strategies for expanding the presence of Gochang’s agricultural and specialty food products in New York and the broader U.S. market.

Building on Gochang County’s recent promotional success at Mega Mart in Atlanta and an export briefing for buyers in New York, participants explored ways to strengthen the competitiveness of the county’s signature products, including processed Korean black raspberry (bokbunja) products, freeze-dried clams, and traditional fermented vinegar. Discussions focused on aligning these products with growing consumer demand for premium and organic foods and expanding access to local online and offline distribution channels.

Consul General Kim Sangho expressed strong support for Gochang County’s efforts to enter the U.S. market, offering to facilitate connections with local premium food distributors, including Kim’C Market, and the New York office of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT). He also proposed featuring Gochang’s bokbunja wine as a welcome drink or dinner wine at official diplomatic events. The Consulate General reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with relevant organizations, including the Governors Association of Korea, to help Korean local governments successfully introduce and establish their agricultural and specialty food products in the U.S. market.
