Presented by the Korean Traditional Music Institute of America, “Sounds of Korea 2016” will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 7:30pm on the 3rd floor of Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles in the Ari Hall.
This program includes the court music ‘Chwiita’, ‘Suryongeum’, ‘CheonnyeonManse’, the folk music ‘Gayageum Sanjo’, ensemble ‘Cheonaejia’, the Geomungo solo, and the instrumental folk music ‘Prince of the Jeju’, Love Affair’, among others.
Founded in 1973, the Korean Traditional Music Institute of America is the oldest established Korean performing arts organization in Los Angeles. The Korean Traditional Music Institute of America specializes in teaching and performing Korean traditional music. By doing so, they strive to play the role of an unofficial diplomat, and share and preserve Korea’s rich and vibrant culture with Korean-Americans as well as the surrounding community.
*This performance is presented as a part of the Korean Cultural Center’s 2016 ARI PROJECT Season 3: Performing arts series, which feature a rich program of various performing arts programs including Korean traditional music and world music, as well as contemporary dance and theater.
